![]() It was slow to set up, but it was worth the extra time because it meant my hub was set up exactly as I wanted it. ![]() Harmony used to let you add "Entertainment Device > Music Player > CD Player" as an empty device (meaning, it adds no buttons at all) and then I'd teach Harmony my own buttons one at a time. Since I'm setting up this Harmony Hub from scratch, I'd rather add everything exactly as I want it. I'd rather not have to surf through pages of nonsense buttons in the Harmony device tab if I ever need to find something. Granted, I could just ignore them & not use them, but I'm a minimalist. I could just add Flirc as a KODI, but then it will add a ton of KODI buttons I don't want. In other words, I'm creating a custom device in Harmony. I'm trying to avoid tons of buttons I don't need (play, pause, display, blah blah blah). So, if there's a device that only adds arrow pad keys, that would be great. ![]() I'm trying to create a custom device in Harmony that automatically adds the fewest IR commands to Harmony because I'm going to teach Harmony the IR commands already in my Flirc. Flirc is perfect for triggering Bash scripts with a remote control, which is part of what I'm doing. Flirc is fantastic because you teach it IR commands & hotkeys to execute when it receives those commands. I already have a customizable usb IR receiver I can send commands to: Flirc. I don't think you understood my question. I think there’s an esp IR module you can send commands to Then I can use the VCR remote to overwrite the IR command for that first button and for adding the rest. So, I add a button using that remote first. If the first button I add to a custom device is from that VCR remote, Harmony thinks "A-HA! He said it's a custom device but it's actually a VCR, so let's automatically add 30+ buttons for VCR functions!" Luckily, I also have an old remote from a device that's not in Logitech's database. I use the remote to teach Flirc custom IR codes to control smart devices using scripts on a Raspberry Pi. I don't own the VCR - I only have the remote. If the first button you add to a custom device is using an IR code Harmony recognizes, Harmony will add a ton of bullshit buttons to your device automatically instead of only adding the one custom button you're trying to add.įor example, I have an old VCR remote lying around. One important note in case anyone in a similar situation finds this:īe careful which remote you use to add custom buttons. I followed your steps and got a blank device with no buttons at all, which means I can now add exactly what I want and only what I want. My hub has been down due to a Logitech error. I then added Red, Green, Blue, Yellow (Which if named as just those colors become colored square buttons), White, Fade, Flash, Smooth, Strobe. In my example I only added Power On, Power Off, Up & Down. You can now manually edit & add any buttons that didn't. Your virtual remote will only have the buttons you added. ×When it asks you to teach it commands ONLY select the commands you want to teach. × Put what you want it to be called for Model Number, just make sure it's not gonna be auto-recognized as a device. ![]() × For brand type in "Generic" or your brand so long as it's not in their pop-up (If it's "Samsung" put in "Slamsung" or "Samslug" or "Samsung1") From my experience, adding a remote that controls a USB RGB Strip, you can:
